I just finished catching up with the Vampire Diaries and...

	I hate that like... Bonnie is the character who most consistently seems to get fucked over BY OTHER CHARACTERS. Bad things happen to other people on accident or there are evil villains and shit, but no, the good guys like, consider Bonnie collateral damage. Slash Jeremy wants some ghost action. OMG THIS THIS THIS. This is exactly what bothers me about what the writers do to Bonnie. I mean, there were a few episodes where they were okay with her dying to save Elena. And when she's not collateral damage she's kept out of the loop. Granted, the scene I'm about to reference happened right after Caroline was turned into a vampire and Bonnie was angry about the situation, but there's a scene where Elena is filling Bonnie in on how she and Stefan were fake fighting and Bonnie says something like "I didn't even know you were fighting." But I know there are other instances of this happening. She's such an afterthought until she isn't and when she isn't it always seems like something bad will or actually does happen.

I have a lot of feelings about Bonnie. And obviously I really like Caroline too, but I find it really hard to muster any emotion beyond "Aww, that's sad" when something shitty happens to her because I know she'll come out of it okay. Whereas Bonnie rarely does.

Elena is SUCH a crappy friend to her, omg. And like, I like Elena enough but I really don't know why Bonnie puts up with this crap. The writers clearly consider Bonnie a witchy plot device and an afterthought and it sucks. I could forgive the whole Jeremy seeing ghosts thing because clearly the writers wanted to do that ghost plot and it did end up having a point in the end, and at that point in time, at least people were like, "How could you do this to Bonnie." But this whole turning-her-mom thing made me SO MAD because not only was Bonnie fucked over, nobody even paused to think about what this would mean for her. It sucks.

Bonnie is, tbh, my favorite character on the show. She and Jeremy are, and that's why I liked them as a couple. Bonnie has most consistently been the only person without an incredibly fucked up moral compass. Elena tries but then she does stuff like compelling Jeremy. TWICE. You think she would have learned the first time. And Caroline is mostly a good person but last I checked she drinks human blood which I find hard to forgive. But the show isn't really interested in considering how she feels about all the REALLY TERRIBLE STUFF THAT HAS HAPPENED TO HER. FFS.

UGH, Elena is such a crappy friend to everyone :| I am SO MAD about Bonnie's plots because they ALWAYS take HER CHOICE out of things! I mean, I know a lot of the plotlines on the show deal with choice (or lack of it, especially in regards to being turned into vampires) but they NEVER ADDRESS BONNIE'S SIDE OF IT. Like, they have devoted episodes of flashbacks to the Salvatores being turned, and Caroline's arc was her dealing with being a vampire and we got an episode of her birthday/death day and her dealing with that lack of choice, but SERIOUSLY, BONNIE NEVER GETS ONE. Ugh, the idea that ONCE AGAIN, Bonnie is FUCKED OVER in her life by people who are supposed to care about her makes me SO mad. Also, Jeremy better come back and find out about the compulsion and lay the smackdown because AGAIN, TOTALLY FORCING CHOICES ON PEOPLE!!!!
